COS 2022 Lion’s Lair – Video Now Available For Download

Do you Dare Enter the Lions’ Lair? COS 2022 The Lions of Canadian Ophthalmology gathered on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Halifax Convention Centre to judge three research presentations related to retinal disease. Dr. Steve Houston delivered a keynote lecture on The future is now: Advances in digital health and technology. The Innovation in Retina Research Award was offered by the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) with the support of Bayer Inc. for clinical trainees (residents or fellows) for a research project proposal related to retinal disease, with preference being given to those using digital innovations in optimizing patient care and screening.

2022 Video Journal of Cataract, Refractive, & Glaucoma Surgery

The first issue of the 2022 Video Journal of Cataract, Refractive, & Glaucoma Surgery is now available for viewing.  It is entitled Great Lectures!  We were fortunate enough to obtain copies of these prestigious lectures featuring Dr. Ehud Assia from Israel who gave the ESCRS Binkhorst Lecture; Mr. Richard Packard from England who gave the Choyce Lecture to the UKISCRS; and Dr. Michael Snyder who recently delivered the Kelman Lecture at the 2021 AAO meeting.     

The VJCRGS is in its 38th year of providing the highest quality of education to anterior segment surgeons around the world.  It is a free member benefit of COS in addition to educating residents, fellows, and private practitioners every quarter.  We hope that you will publish the availability of this new educational program.

Video – Orbis Speaker Series: Experiences and Opportunities in International Eye Health

For this special Orbis Speaker Series event, we teamed up with the Canadian Council of Ophthalmology Residents (CCOR). Dr. Hunter Cherwek dives into the world of our Orbis Volunteer Faculty and discusses his personal experiences throughout his incredible career. Attendees also heard from three speakers who have recently graduated and their own experiences attending an Orbis trip in 2019. They shared important lessons learned in their schooling, Orbis involvement, and current careers, helping to guide and shape possible new opportunities for attendees.

The Importance of Eyedrops for Glaucoma Patients

Dr. Rajiv Bindlish delivers The Importance of Eye Drops: Tips, Tricks, and Instructional Lecture.

In support of World Glaucoma Week 2021, Glaucoma Research Society of Canada held a live webinar with Dr. Bindlish who provided an informative lecture on the importance of eye drops for glaucoma patients.
